Paradontitis, commonly known as paradontosis.
Paradontosis can be caused by:
  • avitaminosis
  • smoking
  • exesive consumption of alcohol
  • parafunction, habitual gnashing of teeth
  • hormonal disorders
  • systemic dosorders (ex. g. diabetes)
  • wrong diet
  • many incorrect protetic fillings
  • disorders in salivation
In most cases paradontosis is caused by bacteria and scale gathering on teeth. They are a result of insufficient oral hygiene. Bacteria might penetrate into operculum (area between the edge of gingiva and the tooth tissue)

  The roots are exposed.

An exposed neck of a tooth and gingival inflamation are the first signs of paradontosis.
In time the affected tooth loses parts of its bone and as a result teeth become lose.
Gingival bleeding might appear in severe cases.

Treatment of “paradontosis” consists of a number of steps:
  • initial treatment – hygienic prcedures
  • proper treatment (periodontal surgery procedures, antibiotics)
  • supporting treatment
